Enzyme Models of Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx)
Glutathione peroxidase is an antioxidant enzyme that contains a selenium atom at the active site. This enzyme catalyzes the reduction of harmful hydroperoxides in cells. We are interested in the GPx-like antioxidant activity of water-soluble selenides and working on inovation of new antioxidant drugs by application of small organic selenium compounds.
