Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is a small globular protein containing about 130 amino acid residues.
We have exhaustively analyzed the detailed structures of phospholipase A2 and characterized several SO interactions (BIOPHYSICS, 2006, 2, 23-34).
Most of the interactions were found to be present in the vicinity of the active site and made clusters on the dendrogram.
These observations suggested that the SO interactions in phospholipase A2 may play some roles in the functions and evolution of the PLA2 family. Further analysis is being conducted in our laboratory. |
