Selected by Grant-in Aid for Sicentific Research (B) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. (July 1, 2004)

Life systems are maintained by the delicate balance among various chemical interactions, such as hydrogen bonds and solvent effects. So, it is scientifically important to elucidate the essence of such weak interactions. In this research project B, we focus on the roles of a sulfur atom present in a protein.

The project aims to pursue unprecedented roles of sulfur in structural biology and in genetics as well in these three years.
